Expedition 36/37 Soyuz Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), NASA Flight Engineer Karen Nyberg, Flight Engineer Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency and backup crew members Mikhail Tyurin of Roscosmos, Rick Mastracchio of NASA and Koichi Wakata of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency participated in traditional ceremonies at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia, outside Moscow on May 16. Afterward, they departed for the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to complete training for their launch to the International Space Station in the Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft on May 29, Kazakh time. After arriving in Baikonur, they are scheduled to conduct a series of prelaunch activities over the next two weeks as they prepare for liftoff to the orbital outpost.
