Interactive video lesson plan for: Wheel Stop Scene from my 2014 Math Rap on loop

Activity overview:

This is a scene from my 2014 MATH RAP - to MacklemoreXRyanLewis Can't Hold Us. Check out the full video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfZb5YipY_w

In the video I wanted to create a scene where the wheels of my car appear to stop on camera. To do this I took one measurement of my wheel's circumference, and did a few calculations to determine I needed to drive about 28.6mph. Went out to the parkway with my wife and the math worked flawlessly!

SPOILER ALERT - Some information about the solution is given away below. To see my work and compare it with yours watch the music video at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfZb5YipY_w

This effect capitalizes on that fact that my camera is shooting "video" by taking about 30 pictures per second (really 29.97, but who's counting). So, if we can get the wheel to spin at a rate where one spoke moves exactly to where the next one is between each shot, the wheel will look motionless! Check out my calculations in the original music video and compare them to yours here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfZb5YipY_w
