Inspired by Phil Beadle's Punctuation Kung Fu, I have developed this Electricity Symbols Kung Fu to be used in the classroom. Great fun with students. This is the first part of the series. This was filmed duirng Samuel Ward's expedition to Mozambique. Thanks to the amazing Cameron Floyd for the editing and to the other students that have taken part in the video " Bartie, Luke, Jack, Dan, Cam, Ronald"
The symbols are (in order):
- Cell - Battery - Resistor - Variable Resistor- Thermistor - LDR - Ammeter - Voltmenter - Lamp - Diode
On the next episode: Switches, Fuse, LED,
Get all students to stand up and learn a few symbols (maybe four or five). Then
ask two keen students to come to the front of the class to compete against each other.
Thank the gods of electricity
Students are facing each other ready to do the symbol.
You shout out the name of a symbol, the students than must execute the correct move, with the correct sound effect. Best out of 3.
It is a lot of educational fun !
