Transcript

Welcome to MooMooMath where we upload a new Math video everyday.
In this video I would like to talk about the area and perimeter formulas of common geometric shapes.
Area is the amount of space found inside the two dimensional shape.
The perimeter is the distance around the shape.
The formula helps you calculate the area and the perimeter. Let's start with a circle.
The area of a circle is equal to πr^2
The perimeter of a circle which is called the circumference is equal to 2 πr.
The area of a parallelogram is base x height
Remember the height must be perpendicular to the base
The perimeter of a parallelogram is equal to 2(b+h)
The area of a rectangle is base x height
The perimeter of a rectangle is 2(b+h)
You can find the area of a rhombus two ways.
If the height is given you can use base x height
If the height is not given you can use 1/2 diagonal1 x diagonal2
Area of a square is side2
The perimeter equals 4side
The area of a trapezoid equals ½ (b1 + b2)h
Perimeter equals b1 + b2 + s1 + s2
Area of a triangle = 1/2base x height
If height is not given you can use heron’s formula
Square root s(s-a)s(s-b)(s-c)
S = a+b+c/2
Perimeter equals a+b+c
