In this Education on Air keynote, LeVar Burton discusses the influence of storytelling on his personal life and explain how storytelling engages those around us and impacts learning.
LeVar Burton's passion for education and literature began at a young age growing up in a household with a mother who was an educator. He is an actor, director, author and education advocate who is best known for his roles as Kunta Kinta in Alex Haley's Roots, Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation and as the host and executive producer of the iconic Reading Rainbow television series on PBS. In 2011, he formed RRKidz (https://www.readingrainbow.com/classroomedition/) and, with series creator WNED/Buffalo, holds the global rights to the Reading Rainbow brand. Today LeVar continues to ignite a love for reading in the next generation of children through the Reading Rainbow digital library service.
