How to find the volume of a cone and a pyramid.
Example problems involving finding volume.
The formula for volume for both a cone and a pyramid equals 1/3Base times height
Example 1 = Find the volume of a cone with a slant height of 13 and a radius of 5 units.
With this example you must use the slant height in order to calculate the height of the cone by using the Pythagorean Theorem.
Example 2= Find the volume of a pyramid with a square base with sides of 10 units and a slant height of 13 units.
Again, you will use the Pythagorean Theorem with the slant height in order to find the pyramid height.
