How long would it take to count to 1 trillion?Welcome to moomoomath. In this video, I would like to talk about how long it would take to count to certain big numbers. To get a little idea how big some numbers are we will count money. It takes about a second to count dollar bills so we will count dollar bills. We will count 1000, then a million, then a billion, then a trillion.
Let's review big numbers. A million has 6 zeros, a billion has 9 zeros, and a trillion has 12 zeros.
Let's start with 1000 dollars.
There are 60 seconds in a minute and 1000 divided by 60 seconds is 16.6 minutes.
Now let's have a big pay raise and jump to a million.
We have 3600 seconds in an hour, and 24 hours in a day.
so 24 times 3600 equals 86,400 seconds in a day.
1 million divided by 86,400 equals 11.57 days.
If you made 1 million dollars it would take 11 straight days to count your money.
Now we will move to a billion.
We will start at 86,400 seconds in a day.
If you take a billion and divide it by the number of seconds in a day you get 11,574 days.
Divide this by 365 days and you get 31,7 years.
So it would take Bill Gates awhile to count his money considering he has over 20 billion dollars.
Now let's get an idea what a trillion dollars.
We will take it one more step.
Take 86400 seconds in a day and multiply it by 365 to see how many seconds are in a year.
Now we will take a trillion and divide it by the number of seconds in a year.
You get 31,700 years.
That is a long time to count your money.
Hopefully, this will give you a little ideal how big certain numbers are.
So the next time you notice your youtube person has a billion subs you will appreciate how large this number.is.
Thanks for watching.
