Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 45 Commander Scott Kelly of NASA and Flight Engineer Mikhail Kornienko of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) discussed the progress of their year-long mission during an in-flight interview Sept. 9 with the “Good Day, New York” program on WNYW-TV in New York. As they approach the midway point of their year in space on Sept. 15, Kelly and Kornienko are conducting numerous biomedical experiments designed to gather valuable data on the effect of long-duration exposure of the human body to weightlessness that will be used formulate the planning for a future human mission to Mars.
