# Interactive video lesson plan for: Understanding Statistical Regression

#### Activity overview:

Are height and weight related? If you know someone's height , can you predict their weight? NO!! How about height and shoe size? These variables correlate, in other words, babies have small feet and basketball players have big feet. A regression analysis helps find the relationship between variables (if there is any at all). This is a common Math task today and can be done on a TI-83/4 graphing calculator. In essence, instead of giving the Y=, students are asked to find the Y= and are asked to be interpretative about the result. Pre-calculator, regression was a very long procedure by hand and finding the regression equation was the Math problem!! Now can the regression can be done in a few steps on a graphing calculator and students are asked to analyze rather than calculate.
