The Human Development and Family Relations (HDFR) program track prepares students to effectively serve culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and families in a wide variety of community and educational environments. This 126 credit-hour interdisciplinary program explores family systems and the ecological development of individuals across their life span.
The HDFR program track leads to a certification as a Family Life Educator (CFLE). It is the first program of its kind in the United States to offer a bilingual (Spanish) HDFR concentration. At CU Denver, it is the only program that focuses on family relationships with schools and communities. The unique combination of coursework and service-learning experiences provide a pathway for students to develop the knowledge, skills and tools for careers in:
Leadership and Community-Based Organizations
Bilingual (Spanish) Family and Community Service Agencies
Higher Education and Student Affairs
Individual, Couple and Family Counseling
