These hares can pack a punch. Filmed just north of Cairngorn National Park in Scotland, these mountain hares are likely tussling over a mate. But unlike other mammals where the males battle it out for a female, mountain hare fights are nearly always between males and females.. This video most likely depicts two males vying for one female. They take turns boxing with her. She will either fight them off, letting them know it is too early to mate, or she will test their strength and submit if she finds them to be adequate partners.
