Andy Griffith's comedic monologue "What it Was, Was Football" earned him a spot on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and he instantly became a rising star. He starred on Broadway and in the film "A Face in the Crowd" before making his way to television on his show, "The Andy Griffith Show." He died at his North Carolina home on July 3, 2012.
