Blog : http://www.learnex.in/strategies-to-help-you-get-promoted-at-work

Do you think, it is very tough to climb the corporate ladder? But, if you want a job that excites you and of course pays you well then you will have to climb it at some point. This means you want to get promoted. SO get into the line, everybody wants to improve their career prospects. Here are some tips that will help you to work on your promotion plan.

1. Start with self assessment -
Before gearing up to request for a promotion you need to take a hard look at your work, the views and perspectives of your boss, your co workers and your clients about you. Check on your accomplishments and keep a log of your results. This is how you can sell yourself and then let know that you are seeking for a promotion.

2. Have a strong relationship with your seniors -
A strong relationship with your managers and seniors of the company can open a lot of doors for you. This relationship with them helps you to understand a lot about the organisation and also about the kind of jobs you will have to do if you get promoted. Seniors also help to spread a good word about you. The more people know you, know your strengths and abilities and your value to the organization. Just slogging will not help if nobody knows you.

3. Ask for more responsibilities -
Volunteering to help other teams and departments helps. Most people in the world do only those jobs that are assigned to them. But this should change for you as you want to grow in your career. Start asking for new responsibilities, this will put you in the spotlight. Try to achieve success in the jobs that you are taking up. You should build a reputation for being the kind of person who is given responsibility and definitely accomplishes it well. Asking for more work shows your interest and desire to help your company grow.

4. Acquire new knowledge and skills -
You surely had the right mix of qualifications, skills and experience to get this current job but if you want to grow and get promoted you need to expand your knowledge and skills. Technology is rapidly changing and you have to perform well in that constantly changing environment. SO to stay in the market and of course to grow , start reading and keep up with the current industry news and events.

5. Prepare yourself for a no -
If you been denied for a promotion. that's not the end of the world. Please don't give and lay your foundations for the future. You can always reapply in three or six months therefore start preparing yourself with the above tips. Make sure to follow up with an email thanking your manager for their time and confirming the details that you discussed.

Hope these strategies help you to build your path to success.
