The plaques given to winners of the 2014 State Education Editors awards were handcrafted by students in the technology class at Colonie Central High School in Colonie, N.Y. Here's teacher John Gehres and his students talking about the process of preparing the project that yielded 110 customized wood plaques. The students, in turn, were treated to a hearty "thank you" pizza lunch for their efforts.
