Special right triangles are triangles that have regular patterns that makes calculations of the triangle easier. Two common special right triangles, are the 30-60-90 triangle and the 45-45-90 triangle

Special Right Triangles
Hi welcome to MooMooMath. Today we are going to look at two type's special right triangles. The first type is 30-60=90 triangles and the second type is the 45-45-90 type triangle. Something special about the 30-60-90 triangle is that all three angles are different therefore all three sides are different, so this triangle is scalene because all three sides are different. So let's draw a 30-60=90 triangle. So if this is my triangle the smallest is this 30 degree angle and this other acute angle would be my 60 degree angle and of course my right angle would be my 90 degree angle. Now opposite my smallest angle is the shortest leg, the longer leg is opposite 60 degree angle and the right angle is always opposite the hypotenuse. So that's how you would label it. So go ahead and label the short, long leg, and the hypotenuse. Now on a 45-45-90 notice you have two angles that are congruent, therefore we have an isosceles triangle which is a triangle with two sides that are the same length and these two angles are my 45 degree angles. So this angle is 45 and this angle is 45. Since these two angles are congruent the legs will be congruent. So these are my two legs. Leg 1 and leg 2 and this is my hypotenuse because it is opposite the 90 degree angle and it is the longest side in a right triangle. So I hope this video of right triangle was helpful, we have two other videos, one which focuses on solving for 30-60-90 triangle and another that solves for 45-45-90 degree triangles.
