A few hours after docking their Soyuz spacecraft to the International Space Station, Expedition 38/39 Soyuz Commander Mikhail Tyurin of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), Flight Engineer Rick Mastracchio of NASA and Flight Engineer Koichi Wakata of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency opened the hatches and were greeted by station Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin, Oleg Kotov and Sergey Ryazanskiy of Roscosmos; Karen Nyberg and Michael Hopkins of NASA; and Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency.
