When ordering or comparing rational numbers, there are a few steps you should go through to get your answer.
Step #1 - Plot the numbers on a number line.
Step #2 - Compare the positions of the numbers (to the left numbers are less, and to the right the numbers are greater )
Step #3 - If you are comparing the numbers, use the appropriate symbol ( or =) and write the solution
OR Step #3 - If you are ordering the numbers, write them in order. The least number will be the furthest left on the number line, and the greatest will be furthest right
