Snobbery can derive from laudable efforts to be discerning and to develop good taste. It can also be annoying. If some people claim that they are dancing 'authentic' blues, then there is a very strong implication that others who dance differently must be inauthentic and therefore inferior. Dancing is about feeling the music and responding appropriately. If the music is blues, and the dance fits the music, the dance is blues.
Almost all the blues dance on YouTube is of big showy competition display dances like these:
I haven't been able to find any decent videos to use as examples of more typical blues, which tends to be much smaller and more private, and suited to darkened rooms.
