Factoring quadratic equations examples | how to do quadratic equations by factoring
Factorisation of quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c = 0, can be done by finding two numbers such that their product is the product of first and last terms and also their sum is the middle term. This is illustrated in the following quadratic equations and word problems bassed on quadratic equations.
Standard form of quadratic equation
First combine all the like terms in the quadratic equation.
Secondly, degree of each term must drop from left to right starting from 2.
00:02 Q1 Find the roots of the following quadratic equations by factorisation:
(i) x^2– 3 x – 10 = 0 (ii) 2x^2+ x – 6 = 0 (iii)sqrt(2)x^2+7x+5sqrt(2) (iv) 2x^2– x+1/8 = 0 (v) 100 x^2 – 20 x + 1 = 0
