Expedition 37/38 Soyuz Commander Oleg Kotov, NASA Flight Engineer Michael Hopkins, Flight Engineer Sergey Ryazanskiy and backup crew members Alexander Skvortsov, Oleg Artemyev and Steve Swanson of NASA appeared before the Russian State Commission on September 24 in Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The commission gave its final approval for the launch of Kotov, Hopkins and Ryazanskiy on September 26, Kazakh time, to the International Space Station. The crew members also conducted a final prelaunch news conference at their Cosmonaut Hotel crew quarters.
