Barber is a lifelong educator and government reformer. He started his career as a teacher, was a professor, and later became Chief Adviser to the Secretary of State for Education during the first term of British Prime Minister Tony Blair. In Blair's second term Sir Michael was the Head of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit. Today he is the Chief Education Advisor at Pearson, and he continues to advise education systems around the world.
